US Will Support Rafah Operation In Gaza If Israel Does Not Retaliate Against Iran

by Karen Faulkner, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – While the US has pressed Israel not to attack the remaining Hamas battalions in the Rafah area of Gaza (because of the potential for mass civilian casualties), the Biden administration is now reportedly willing to support a Rafah operation provided Israel does not attack Iran, the Jerusalem Post learned from the Qatari newspaper The New Arab.

World powers led by the US and the UK have been pressuring Israel to desist from a retaliatory attack against Iran after the Tehran regime launched a massive direct attack by drones and missiles against Israel on April 14. Iran’s attack was deflected in a joint defensive operation by Israel, the US, the UK, France, and Jordan.

A senior official reportedly told The New Arab that “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu managed to obtain American approval for a military operation in Rafah, in exchange for [Israel] refraining from carrying out a wide military operation against Iran in response to its recent attack,” JPost said.

The official added that the “discourse of an Israeli response to Iran contradicts the desires of the American administration and is not realistic, given the Israeli claims that the United States played the major role in repelling the Iranian attack and preventing its success.”

In a statement about a potential Israeli attack on Iran, Israel’s ambassador to the US, Michael Herzog, said Thursday: “Israel will react to Iran, and it won’t take years – soon Iran’s missiles will be equipped with nuclear warheads.”
